David’s Eleven

David’s Eleven

Sunday’s big Premier League match saw Manchester United face Spurs at Wembley. Marcus Rashford and David De Gea were the heroes as the Red Devils dealt Tottenham’s title hopes a big blow with a hard-fought 1-0 win.

Manchester United’s talented number 10 scored the only goal of the game as he raced onto a pin-point pass from Paul Pogba. Marcus Rashford was left one-on-one with Tottenham’s goalkeeper Hugo LLoris and made no mistake with the finish. Rashford’s goal ensured a significant victory for the interim coach of the Red Devils – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The win, which maintains the Norwegian’s impressive start at the club, was the first at Spurs since 2012.

Following the departure of Jose Mourinho, Ole Solskjaer’s first job was to change the mood in the camp and put a smile back on the faces of the players. But that isn’t enough for a club like Manchester United. Tactically, Mauricio Pochettino was always two steps ahead of him and had it not been for David De Gea, who put in another truly remarkable performance, pulling off eleven fine saves, Tottenham would have come away with all three points. At the end of the day though, three points for Manchester United who move level with fifth-placed Arsenal in the table.

As for Pochettino’s side, once again they created numerous chances but even their top scorer Harry Kane failed to find a way past an inspired De Gea in the United goal. The outcome of the game wasn’t what Tottenham wanted. The result for the Londoners now leaves team now nine points adrift of the Premier League leaders. Their title ambitions seem to be fading fast following defeats at home by Wolves and now Manchester United. Spurs are running out of time and opportunities to remain in the title hunt.
