The 2018/19 season of LaLiga has yet to conclude but already there is news concerning next campaign. Puma will be replacing Nike as the official ball provider for the Spanish Football league.
LaLiga issued an official statement unveiling the new deal signed with Puma who will provide the new official ball plus other sports equipment to LaLiga Santander and Liga Adelante, the Spanish second division. The two parties put pen to paper to a 5-year deal. The new agreement will put to an end to a 23 year-long cooperation with sponsors Nike who had replaced Adidas in 1996/97.
With an estimated worldwide audience of more than 2.7 billion people per season in 183 different countries and with more than 80 million followers on social media, the Spanish league is one of the most popular sport leagues of the world. This partnership will boost the visibility of Puma in the stadiums across Spain and will strengthen its position as a leading football brand on a global level.
Puma will now have some of the world’s best players playing with the new ball which has yet to be unveiled. Messi, Luis Suárez, and Antione Griezmann are just some of the footballers who will be looking to put the new Puma ball past the opposing keeper.
“We are extremely proud to cooperate with and be associated to one of the best, if not the best football leagues of the world” – commented Johan Adamsson, Sports Marketing Director of Puma.
“It is an honour that such a historic sports brand as Puma wants to cooperate with LaLiga, the best national football league. A company that kits out big teams, important athletes and famous stars wants to bring all of its technical quality and knowhow to produce our ball that is such an important element of our competition “ – added Juan Carlos Díaz, Commercial and Marketing Director of LaLiga.
